Stone World: 3,700 years ago, a mysterious light turns all humankind to stone. The protagonists are Senku Ishigami and Taiju Oki, who wake up after the petrification to rebuild civilization. The camera angles and the artwork, from the little details to the fight scenes, was next level, even for a shounen anime. Season 2 of the Dr. Stone anime television series, titled Stone Wars (石狩り), is produced by TMS Entertainment, directed by Shinya Iino, and written by Yuichiro Kido. It is an adaptation of the Dr. Stone manga written by Riichirō Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi. It premiered on January 14, 2021, with Crunchyroll simulcasting the series worldwide outside of Asia. We had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Stone showrunner Shinzo Fujita and director Shinya Iino about what went into adapting the Petrification Kingdom arc of Inagaki and Boichi’s manga, as well as how they’re approaching the show’s third (and perhaps final) arc, The Stone Wars.

In just 11 episodes, Dr. Stone did what it took One Punch Man two seasons to do: tell a complete story with great characters and a world that's really fun to spend time in. As for what that means for future seasons, there's no telling whether we'll get another sequel or not.
